Cat Walk Wish (Part 3)
I arrived in the classroom, and my teacher was standing in front of my classmates as if he arrived seconds before I came.
"I'm sorry. I'm late." I said, then I walked straight to my table.
"Why are you wet?" My teacher told me. All my classmates were staring at me. I didn't answer. I just took my towel off my bag.
As I dry my face, my hair in my nape was standing. I felt like someone was breathing behind me. Then when I took off the towel in my face, I saw something behind my teacher. I closed my eyes again to clear up my sight, then I opened. Nothing was in there, so I sighed. Maybe my eyes were tired.
The whole subject, even though, interesting for me, became boring eventually. My eyes were very heavy as if they wanted to go off my sockets. I don't like the feeling of forcing yourself to be awake. It was a very hard time.
I cut classes after that. I knew I can't make it till the whole day finishes, so I went home. My parents weren't there, all of them were working. I went to my room, then I slept. It was still 9am.
----------
I was running in an endless dark place. I didn't know who I'm fleeing to, I just run and run and run. Then suddenly I'm in a swamp. My feet were wet with water and mud, and I felt its coldness as if I was standing in a snow. There were trees everywhere - very large trees, but their bodies were as soft as that of a reed. I heard the noisy unpleasant sound. The leaves were falling.
Then, I was standing in a familiar dark place. I looked everywhere, then I heard a counting. I was on the catwalk. I saw someone approaching me. I climbed up the stairs, but I wasn't moving in the place. As the person went nearer me, I felt fright climbing through my limbs. "Stop!" I exclaimed. He still walked continuously, then he passed by me. The face was very familiar, but I can't recognize who it was.
There was a black cat following him, and I followed the same. My attention was on the cat, not on the person. I didn't know why, I just followed the cat. Then the person stopped counting. I looked at him, then I went back to the cat but it was nowhere. I looked back to the person but it was nowhere, and everything was gone. I felt powerless, and my body weakened. I can't breathe. I get a deep inhale, but no air went inside. I felt like I'm drowning.
----------
I woke up from a deep sleep. I was panting. What was that?
It was three in the afternoon. Everyone was not home yet. I went to the kitchen and washed my face. I opened the fridge to get something to eat. As I sat down to prepare my meal, I didn't notice the tears trickling through my cheeks. I know there was something wrong with me. I was seeing things I shouldn't be seeing. I was hearing voices from no one. It couldn't be only me. I wanted everything gone. I wanted everything to stop. But how?
After eating, I went to my bedroom, then sat down and took my cell phone. There were ten unread messages on it. I opened the first one. It was one of my classmates.
"Hey, where are you? The class will start. Come back."
I forgot I didn't tell them that I went home. Then opened the second one.
"Hey, you need to come back now. The class just started."
The third one was the same as well as the others. I paused reading them all because they have the same message. Then I continued but I just scanned who sent me a message. The last one was not registered in my contacts, but it seemed familiar. I opened it but there was no message, it was empty. I guessed it was sent to me wrongly, but why is it empty? I was becoming paranoid again. 'Just ignore it.' I told myself.
I lied on my bed and opened the TV.
I watched the TV show for minutes. It was boring so I leave the TV still open, and I took my laptop. I opened it and played an online game. Hours later, I heard something in the kitchen. I went to my door and opened it.
"Mom. Dad. Are you home?!" I screamed. No one answered.
I went back to my laptop. Then I noticed something had passed in front of the TV. I know it was a shadow. It dimmed the TV light. At a start, I wasn't freak out but then, I heard something again. I shook my head facing to my back. Holy sh*t! Oh my God! It was my friend. I stood from my bed and ran downstairs. I forcibly open the door so I can go out, but whatever turn I did to our doorknob it's still lock. I saw my friend walking down in the stairs. He was drenching in blood from head to toe. He left footprints on the stairs with his blood. I have no choice but to run towards our kitchen. I took the knife then suddenly he's in front of me. I was petrified. I can't feel my body. We're standing face to face. He touched my face, and his hand were very cold. As I was looking at him, I saw tears flow from his eyes and he smiled at me. Then he abruptly vanished in a blink of an eye. I was still scared so I swift to the door and I went out still handling the knife in my right hand.
----------
Someone from outside the gate called me.
"Hey!" He screamed. I didn't look at him. I was still staring at our house. "Hey! What happened?!" He asked. I gave him a look.
He opened the gate and went near me.
"Are you alright?" I just shook my head telling him not. "Okay, come with me." He took the knife from my hand and drop it.
I don't know him. He was a complete stranger to me. He introduced himself to me with a smile and gave his hand for a shake. I told him my name as well.
"Waiter!" He called. "What do you want?" I was still dumb that time. I shook my head.
"I know you're very scared of what happened to you inside your house. Trauma, that's what you're feeling right now."
I looked at his eyes, he was looking at me too, and then I looked outside. The waiter approach us. He ordered a glass of juice for me and he ordered a burger and soda for himself.
"So," He said. "What happened to you? You really looked scared and pale. Was it a ghost?" I didn't answer. He continued speaking to me anything and even throwing corny jokes to me.
"Look," I said. "I don't know you, and you don't know me. Just bring me home, okay?! Maybe my parents were back now."
"Yes, I really don't know you." He said. "But I know what was happening to you back there."
"No! You don't know anything! You don't know what was happening to me! Why will you care?!"
"I care because you throw a wish in the Cat Walk!" It stopped me. I was a shocked to what he said.
"What are you saying?"
"My father told me what you did on the cat walk. I just wanted to help."
"I don't know what you're saying, and I don't need a help." I stood up and walked towards the door.
"Hey, wait!" He held my right arm to stop me. "What you did is dangerous. You should've done it." We stared each other in the eyes. I was scared. My daemon told me to trust him. "Just sit here, and let's talk about it right now before it's too late."
Too late? What does he mean? We sat back. I was still speechless. I don't know what to say.
"By the way, my father is the gardener of your school. He saw you doing the ritual in the cat walk. He had stopped you, but he knew you made the wish some other time before he caught you doing the ritual again. Fortunately, you didn't wish again because it will be very dangerous." He stopped. "Hey! Are you even listening to me?"
"I was thinking of my friend's ghost back home."
"What's about him?"
"He was crying."
"You don't know, are you?" I gave him a perplexed look.
"What do you mean? What do I don't know?" I asked him.
"Is the name of your friend ..... ?"
"Yes."
"Then I'm right." He smiled. "Your friend made a wish too."
"What?" I was puzzled.
"You know what happens to a person who made a wish on the catwalk?"
"Hey, you didn't answer my question. What do you mean he made a wish there?"
"Like what you did." He pointed to me. "He did the ritual same as you."
"Why will he do it?"
"I don't know." A complete silence covered us. "Hey, do you still wanna know what happens to a person after wishing?"
"Yes," I answered.
Why did my friend made a wish in the Cat Walk? It really puzzled me so much. Why was he crying when he appeared to me?
