The Shapeshifting Neighbor

Story

Actually, this story was told by my friends. According to them, it was only known by people living in E. Jacinto and Herrera Streets, Brgy. Ibaba, Malabon City.

No doubt, that even the urban people do still believe of the mythical creatures of our ancestors. Aswang and manananggal are the most popular of those. Stories about them tells us that they migrated from provinces with the reason similar to those normal individuals who test there fate in the urban cities. Then, plague the people on it.

Only few people had seen this shapeshifting neighbor they are talking about. No one knows if he is a male or she is a female, but my friend said, it is surely a female. He added that this creature can be synonymous to aswang, which likewise can shapeshift in many form. In addition, he also told me that this creature only goes out every night (of course!), and when there is a pregnant woman near her.
The only place where they often saw this creature is at the basketball court, named Plaza, and in Pilapil, in the form of a huge, black dog whenever that place is empty. But some says she always appear in a dark place in the form of a huge cat. Despite of its appearances, there's no incident of her attacks to a person nor dead people seen in an isolated place with unexplainable death.
But there's an incident of where this creature always change her form - from human to an animal.
One night, there was a guy who went to their CR. Their CR is not connected to their house, it was built outside, in the rim of the Tonsuya River. Actually, not only one family uses that CR but every one is free to use it. Back to the story, when he is near to the bridge-like woods heading towards the door of the CR, he saw someone went there first. He waited the person to finish and go out, but hours later he decided to knock the door when suddenly the wall opposite to the door was being destroyed. He was shocked of what the person inside is doing. Abruptly something flew outside from the CR - a huge bird. Frightened, he ran faster going back to his house forgetting what he actually wants to do there. While crying, he told his family of what he saw, but they didn't believe him. They just calmed him up and let him sleep. Day came, they saw the CR destroyed very much as if a whirlwind blew it. So, now they started to believe to that person who told them of what happened that night. They also theorized that that creature lives near them. My friend added, whenever you pass the houses near that CR, you always feel cold mysteriously with goosebumps that makes you more scared.
On the other hand, there were stories which this creature is also involved. They said, this creature is watching pregnant women in that same place where she is known.
One story is that, at night, a pregnant women (the mother of my friend who also gave me information about this mystery) caught a black dog watching her while washing her feet. At first, she just ignore that animal, but it seemed something different with that creature there. So, slowly, she picked a lag with a nail on the tip, then, smashed it to the dog. Definitely, it was injured - wounded in her butt. In the next day, they saw an old woman having a wound on its face, as if it was sliced by something. She was intrigued about that wound in old woman's face. Although the wound was in the dog's butt, but elders said that the face of an aswang when in the form of animal is at it's butt. So, she decided to ask her about the wound, and answered, she was wounded in an accident.
Another, a group of people are running after a fleeing dog when it was caught under the house of a pregnant woman watching her. But it was so fast that they didn't got it up.
In the other hand, an eye witness dealing with this being was told by a group of teenagers. One night, they were sitting in a usual place were they often see each other. One of them suddenly saw an old woman looking on them. They just ignore the stranger by staring. But it seemed the woman was still looking at them. So they tried to call her. First after they called her, she hid. On the second time, when she appears again, they called her, then hid again. It was on the third time when they call her, she went near to them. They ask her if theres a problem, but she just replied also with a question while looking in the same place. After the conversation, the old woman left but a question formed in their mind - why is she looking in the same house, even while talking to them? Time passed, and they found out that the house where she is looking at had a pregnant woman on it.
I can't say that its just a story made by imagination, made by those people who just want to get fame and just want to scare everyone especially those children who don't go home early. The only one who knows the truth is the one who saw it.

The Ghosts in MV Princess of the Stars

Story

[Taken from Internet:]

"We looked for her but she was not there. There was talk that she might be one of the dead passengers who visited us to say thank you," ayon kay Relos.

Ghost Haunting of the Victims of MV Princess of the Stars

According to the residents of Sibuyan Island in the province of Romblon, the place where the MV Princess of the Stars sunk, they can't be at peace as soon as the shipping vessel is not taken away and also the corpses of the victims which was trapped inside and still not given a proper burial.

The residents near the shore, where the ship inverted and where you can see its face in Sibuyan Sea, was telling that they hear and see goosebumping sounds and apparitions from the sunken ship this June 2008.

Mysteries

Lady in White

In the province of San Fernando, they often saw a lady wearing white dress while they're walking in the seashore, singing people, and even unexplainable noise of an aggressive riot.

The employees of Philippine Coast Guard guarding the ship also feel unknown things.

Lady in Red

October 26, the officials and residents of San Fernando offered a mass to the victims of the tragedy. Their mayor, Nanette Tansingco, invited the relatives of the victims who had died also the relatives of the missing victims to sit beside the officials. She had told her employee - Arlene Relos, that she saw a lady wearing a red dress who smiled to her before the mass begin. They examined the whole shore but they didn't saw a lady in red.

We looked for her but she was not there. There was talk that she might be one of the dead passengers who visited us to say thank you, Relos said.

The said ship was owned by Sulpicio Lines Inc. which had 864 passengers on it from Manila to Cebu last June 21. Its in the midst of the storm Frank, the victims who was saved alive was only 56. They found 350 corpses only the next day after it sunk. The others were believed to be missing. At the start of retrieval operations - October 26, they only found 113 corpses.

The Haunting to the Divers

The divers continuously retrieves the victims and continuously they felt unknown and mysterious happenings under the sea. According to the employees of Harbor Star, the divers had a hard time to salvage the 13th corpse which their lives were almost put to danger. Three hours passed, they finally gave up in attempting to get the body. When they had got it the next day, the forensic experts put an X mark on the written number 13 on the body bag believing the bad luck will vanish.

Another one, according to the Coast Guard diver, they didn't pulled the ankle of one of their rescue ships easily. The tools they used to pull the ankle seemed stocked on the large rocks of the seabed. However, when they decided to dive on it 95 feet below see level, to find out what the problem is, they found none nor any problems, and finally they pulled the ankle easily.

Mayor Nanette Tangsingco said, according to stories she heard, they often saw a golden ship passing in the same place where the ship sunk.

Unexplainable Sounds

According to the residents living near the inverted ship, they hear knockings from the middle of the sea, at the same time the ship also sunk. The knockings seemeb to come from the doors and walls of the ship. They also hear cries and yells of childrens.

Terror Dreams and Unsleepy Nights

Levy Samuele and Ernesto Clerin, who had both dead relatives caused by the tragedy, went to San Fernando last month to witness the said retrieval operations. According to them, they sensed a different feeling which pull them to the place where the sunken ship is.

Clerin, whose wife died in the accident, was always dreaming about her before he went to the place of incident.

Samuele was still searching of his missing cousin and its 3-year old child. As he went to the said place, he felt that his relatives were just somewhere and watching. Samuele remembered the time before it sunk, the child of his cousin was asking help to him. Sometimes he hears its favorite doll laughing. It had been played before going to the ship.

Flotation device

There was a fisher who sailed near the sunken ship. He dropped an old flotation device/life saving device, and as it touched the water, it vanished suddenly and it sunk towards the depths of the sea just like someone grabbed it. It never came back nor floated in the surface anymore.

Cantilan's Malitangtang Bridge

About

The Malitangtang Bridge, in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, accordingly is the home of unknown beings which became part of urban stories (legends). Even those people who once had been there, give respect to the bridge to an unknown one. When you see it, you'll just thought it's a simple and ordinary bridge, but behind the innocence of the structure there lies the stories of the inexplicable. Many people are feared every time they went there. They're worried of what might appear in front of them.

Engkantos are mysterious beings in Philippine lower mythology. They might curse you once you do something they don't like. They are unpredictable - they may be kind-hearted or wicked. You find them beautiful, but they're actually wearing a mask to hide something. Because of those reasons, many people are frightened to pass through the bridge. According to elders, the Malitangtang itself, where the bridge is, is the home of engkantos. It just happened that the bridge is the ground-zero of every story.

Malitangtang Bridge is far different to Biringan City in terms of engkanto manifestations. Although the two are similar in some aspects - example: being the passageway to another world, Malitangtang Bridge is real and you can even set foot on the place, unlike Biringan which is wholly invisible.

Stories

[From an Interview:]

It was morning, the sunlight was still not almost visible. Mang Narding (not his real name) decided to start the trip of his jeepney routing from Cantilan going to Parang. Of his trip, he got four passengers. At the start, when they still not pass and arrive at the Malitangtang bridge, it was still normal. Some of his passengers were sleeping, while some are just looking outside the window.

While Mang Narding was driving continuously, he noticed something mysterious to his passengers. At that time, they had passed through the Malitangtang Bridge. He noticed that there was one added to his passengers, it was strange, he didn't even stop to fetch someone. One just add up suddenly to them.

He had five passengers in his jeep at that time. He didn't utter any words, perhaps because of nervousness and fear. He stared at them to find out who was added. All of the passengers were sleeping. He decided to gaze on his passengers one-by-one. Then he noticed a beautiful girl. Fair-skinned and has long hair. He looked at her fixedly, but as he stares, he noticed one thing. She had no philtrum. He just didn't utter even he was wet with sweat because of fear. The girl suddenly talked, Sir, let me go down on one side. She pointed the place where she's going down. Mang Narding looks at her when she got off, but he saw no one. So he drives the jeepney faster.

[From an Interview:]

"Ano pong kailangan nila?" Tanong ng babae.

"Yung matanda pong pumunta rito, maaari po ba siyang makausap?" Tanong ni Ben.

"Matanda? Pero wala namang matanda rito eh."

"Ho? Pero may ..."

Kahit pinagpilitan nilang may matandang pumunta roon, pilit ring sinasabi sa kanilang wala. Nakakapagtaka.
One afternoon, Jerry, Ben, Shan and Kevin (not their real names) were from Silop (a swimming pool resort) and they're driving home now to Cantilan with their two motors, two passengers each. While at the bridge of Malitangtang, they hit an old man. Actually they didn't notice an old man in front of them. It seemed he appeared abruptly. They stopped to help him, but shockingly, the old man just stood up as if nothing happened. He just cleaned off the dust in his clothes.

Lolo (grandpa), we'll bring you into the hospital for a check-up. Ben said while supporting the old man to stand up.

No, thanks. You should have driven slowly. The old man replied.

The old man walked to the house. They followed him by sight. However because of pity, they went to the house to force the old man to go to the hospital.

Hello! Jerry said while knocking at the door. Is there anyone there?

The door suddenly opened. A woman came out.

What can I do for you? The woman asked.

The old man who went here, can we talk to him? Ben asked.

Old man? But there's no old man here.

What? But ...

Even though they insist that there was an old man, she also insisted on them there's none. Strange. Then, because of fear, they ran faster to their motors, and they drove straight home.

There is another story similar to these, but they said it was an old lady, not an old man.

[From an Interview:]

At the time when a group of engineers has a plan of putting a line of electricity in Malitangtang, one of them had a dream. Someone told him not to continue the plan in the place because their house will be affected. The planned line direction should be changed. However he didn't listen, they continued the planned direction. Another morning came, they found their electricity wires winded on an electric post. It was impossible for human to do such thing. The wire was as large as the arms of a man. How can that person do it alone regardless of its weight and length? Maybe because it wasn't a human, but an engkanto. Because of the incident, after taking off the wires, they changed the planned electric line direction.

Another story happened when the bridge was repaired. Another person who was in-charge of the project dreamed to make it much higher so the ship will not touch it every time it will pass the river.

Other Infos

The mountain near the Malitangtang Bridge is said to be the dwelling place of the engkantos who appear on the bridge itself. Some people saw cacao trees on the top of the mountain. No one owns the plants over there. So who planted those trees? Nobody knows. I remember the story of Maria Cacao of this one.

Another info about the bridge is the river under it. It was said that the river was endless. No one knows the end as well as the starting point.

Alien Invasion in Iloilo

Las Pinas, which became famous of the reliable UFO sightings video records; Mount Banahaw, which was rumored of UFO abduction; and Novaliches, Quezon City and Cagayan de Oro, also a place of sighting, but Iloilo, invaded by Aliens?

Story

In San Joaquin, Iloilo, residents were feared of this unexplainable visitors which, based on rumors, are all extraterrestrials - aliens in other word.

According to the people who witnessed and saw them personally, they were human-like with wrinkled forehead, long ears and a glowing eyes, wearing a loose dress like priests'. They first appeared at time of full moon.

Mostly, the witnesses were minor-aged children, because of that they may probably tell the truth of what they actually saw. Those beings might be TRUE.

Based in the GMA Channel 7 - Imbestigador, Antonio Israel, a specialist of UFOs, who was convinced that this beings are visitors from other world, had an opinion concerning them, he quoted, "Ako'y naniniwala, kung hindi man ito nanggaling sa outer space, ito ay marahil o malamang nanggaling sa ilalim ng dagat. Ang mga ganitong nilalang ay tinatawag na 'hoppers or creepers'." (I believe, if they may not came from outer space, they might originated from under the sea. These beings are called 'hoppers or creepers'.) He also explained the possible reason why they went offshore. Fr. Rex Jiloca, the previous parish priest, also told his opinion of the happenings. According to him, those things the people saw might be a manifestation of evil spirits warning the people.

At the end the television show concluded that those were just created of imagination and can be explained by science itself.

Sigbins are the cure for AIDS

About

The Sigbin is a mythical creature that's more popular in Visayas and Mindanao. Old folks say that the sigbin walks backwards with its head tucked between its hind legs and that it "resembles a hornless goat, emits a very nauseating smell and possess a pair of very large ears which are capable of clapping like a pair of hands." They also say that it ventures out of its lair during Holy Week in order to "look for children that it will kill for the heart, which is made into an amulet." For some reason, the story about it being the cure for AIDS spread like wildfire in the late 1990s even if nobody really knew what a sigbin looked like. Some drawings actually make it look like a kangaroo.

Story

Rich government officials in Mindanao who lived in mansions or large estates were believed to be raising sigbins. They were accused of being too greedy to share the wealth with the people. The blood of the sigbin, its meat, or its oil was supposed to cure AIDS within seconds.

Fact

There are no words to explain just how ridiculous this story sounds and the fact that many people actually went sigbin hunting. Many hapless people who wanted to make a fortune by catching the animal that would cure AIDS were said to have been shown pictures of albino animals that the con men passed off as genuine sigbins. Many of those who wanted to try their luck at sigbin hunting were asked to pay a fee for the privilege of being part of the sigbin hunting group.

Mercedita - An Engkanto of Binangonan, Rizal

Stories

[Taken from a social networking site [1]:]

Beware, Mercedita might mock you!

As of 6 o'clock in the evening, no one must talk about Mercedita because she might hear you, and she might answer you. Still not feared? Then I tell you more story about her.

Mercedita was said to be an engkantada of the cave in Batisan, part of Wawa, Libis. The water in this part of Laguna de Bay is very clear, and became the favorite washing place of every women. If a girl went there to wash the clothes, she's always accompanied by her suitor. If you can picture the scene in Vilma Santos and Edgar Mortiz's movie, if you weren't born yet at the time of Carmen Rosales and Rogelio de la Rosa, they were like that. Mercedita would appear on any man who goes near the cave.

Not far from the cave, they found the bodies of two young men, from a well-known family, who were drowned in the lake last Dekada 60's (1960's). What makes it a mystery is that, these people were both young and athletes, both have been skillfully swimming on the lake. According to rumors, Mercedita brought them to her world. While to those who didn't believe, the death of the two young men were caused by fatigue from over playing basketball, and the possibility of having cramps while swimming there which led them to pull each other deeper unto the lake.

The residents described Mercedita as playful. And, whoever passes or walks through that place (the cave) will be played at.

A married couple from Calumapng will never forget the time how their boat just revolved ridiculously at the lake, one morning when they brought with them their sick child to breathe some fresh air. Afraid, the father raised his child and pleaded to the engkantada to let them go off to the shore for the sake of the child which, that time, was frightened and crying. In just an instant, the boat stopped to move, and the father swiftly rowed. That was the fastest rowing he had done on his entire life.

There were basketball players from Manila who played for Rizal Cement Company. One of them is husband to a popular television talk show host. Four of them persuade each other to go sailing on the lake. However, they felt frightened because, from Wawa to RCCI Compound, they spent almost 8 hours before they got off the lake! There boat can't be controlled, and due to hunger, most of the athletes got dizzy. Starting that time, they pledged not to go back to Binangonan anymore.

There was a story about Mercedita having a mortal suitor - an albularyo, to whom the engkantada gave a gift of healing diseases. But on other version, it was just his propaganda to be famous in his massage, tawas, and other treatments driving away sickness and bad spirits from the body.

There was another story, that Mercedita was a companion of a foreign priest, and which became the parish priest of Binangonan. There was a secret passage behind the altar to where Mercedita can fetch the priest back and forth for a mass in their world.

The engkanto friends of Mercedita sometimes go off the shore to the village and buys in the market. If you hear some kind of noise or words you can't understand, it symbolizes that there are unknown beings somewhere. If you see a woman who don't possess a philtrum, she may be Mercedita's companion.

To those who don't believe and always find more explanation, the said stone house in Batasin is real. It was, perhaps, the cave they are talking about. It was owned by a foreign family, whose businesses in Manila are hospital and school. They once lived there but they were afflicted by insanity, and they were hidden in the public for some family reason. And, maybe, the creation of engkanto story is a warning not to go near the stone house - now, abandoned and scary.

The elders found ways on how to avoid their children be mischievous. They use these scary warnings: there's an engkanto on the seashore; there's a nuno sa punso in the field; and there's a kapre lurking at night.

To the said secret passage behind the altar, according to a sakristan, it was just the church's way to warn people not to drink the wine of the priest secretly behind the altar.

Mercedita's story will never end. It will continuously grow and sprouts many rumors or versions of her life through the tongues of everyone.

Manananggal gumagala sa Caloocan City
(Manananggal roaming in Caloocan City)
By: Gemma Amargo

Two at night, the residents of the distant barangay in Caloocan City was covered with fear after they witnessed a flying woman with her half body roaming around the house of a pregnant.

According to the residents of Brgy. Tala, at about 11:55 pm when they saw a flying woman, which they believe to be a manananggal, having a long hair and a pointed nails, and a flaming eyes.

The said manananggal, according to the local residents, was roaming around the house of Tessie Acuna, 31, eight-months pregnant.

Mang Tomas said, this was not a new story for them because three years ago the same being attack another resident in their barangay.

Likewise a pregnant woman was said to be attacked and killed by this. She took her heart and unborn child from inside her body.

Because of this, some groups of men armed with pointed bamboos and bolo planned again to patrol at night.

They said, they can't consult help from police because they might just laugh at them.

Manananggal namataan sa La Union
(Manananggal seen in La Union)
By: Artemio Dumlao

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union - Instead a manananggal searching for a fetus of pregnant woman, they saw her went down to the roof of a radio station in Wallace Air Station which was believed that this being just want to see President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who arrived last Friday morning.

Found out from the sister radio station (DZNL) of Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) that a security guard of Voice of America compound saw the half body of a woman flying at the roof of the power house at about 12:30 am, hours before the President arrives in the city.

That's why the news spread like a fire, and the residents' opinion was probably the being just want to see personally her idol - President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which was rumored by the corrupt officials of the government to be a "manananggal" herself.

But many of the local residents didn't believe on the news, and some doubted if it was true.

It was not known right away if the rumor was told to the President who went to the said city to give the kidnapped victim Jakie Rowena Tiu a moral support.

If we can still remember one story in 1998, there was also a manananggal seen by a resident flying over the roofs of houses which was believed to be looking for a victim.

Magsasaka nilapa ng aswang
(A farmer attacked by an Aswang)
By: Joy Cantos

CAMP CRAME — The frightful aswang started to wander again whenever darkness came at Davao del Sur after attacking a 52-year-old farmer of Barangay San Guillermo in the town of Hagonoy this past two days.

The corpse of the victim - Cornelio Regidor, was found full of scratches of sharp nails in any part of his body which was believed to be done by a creature of darkness.

According to the news sent to Camp Crame, he was found inside his house bathed with blood, and whose thorax was totally destroyed and with missing internal organ.

The relatives of the victim believe that Regidor was killed by an aswang because there was no knife stab or even a bullet of gun seen in his body.

In the first report, the aswang roams on the said barangay whenever night falls, thus every people close their houses early in the evening.

However, Policemen just ignore the belief of the residents that the victim was killed by aswang because there was no witness which can prove it true - that an aswang was responsible with this crime.

On the other hand, Policemen still continue solving the mysterious death of the victim.

The Boyfriend's Death

Legend

[Taken from Internet:]

There was a story about a couple/lovers who were doing something inside their car when they notice a guy walking around them. Of course the girl, in fright, told her boyfriend to go out and confront the person. After hours later, the girl was freaked out when the head of her boyfriend just abruptly appear on the window. On the next day, she was found by some policemen insane. Legend has it that the guy walking around them hunts couples inside their car, parking on an isolated place.

[Taken from Internet:[1]]

The story goes that a couple went out on a date one night somewhere along New Manila. Then their car breaks down; good thing they were able to steer it to the Broadway Centrum parking lot. The boyfriend gets out of the vehicle and tries to fix the problem, but fails. So he tells the girlfriend to stay in the car, close the windows, and lock the doors while he's looking for help.

An hour later, the girl was getting anxious waiting for her boyfriend to arrive when she notices a strange man watching from the shadows. this man approaches the car and starts banging on the windows and trying to force open the doors. Terrified, the girl honks the car horn to get attention and scare the man off. He stopped and hurriedly left, only to return a few minutes later. then he circled the car, deliberately, holding something in his hand, which he raises to the window.

To her absolute horror, the girl realizes it was her boyfriend's decapitated head! That's not all: she was even more horrified to see what the man lifts up in his other hand: the boyfriend's car keys.

Allegedly the poor girl was so traumatized by the experience that she lost her mind.

[Taken from Internet:[2]]

The couple where somewhere in the creepy area when they ran out of gas. the boyfriend had to go get gas and left the girlfriend inside the car. Half an hour later the girlfriend noticed that there was this man watching her from a dark portion of the road. She then locked all the car doors when she saw the man walking towards her. Things got creepier when the the girlfriend realized that the strange man was trying to force the doors open, the girl honked on the horns to get attention and maybe scare the guy away. the man finally gave up and run away. After a few minutes the man was back and started circling the car. The girl was about to honk the horns when the man lifted something with his hand and walked towards the car. To the girls horror she realized that it was her boyfriends decapitated head. She sreamed in fear but nothing prepared her for what came next, the stranger lifted his other hand and the girl saw that he had in his possession....... The car keys of the boyfriend. The next day authority found the girl inside the car crying and laughing, saying things that didnt make any sense, she was driven insane by something , they didnt know.

Up to this day, that stranger has never been found.

  • Conclusion

All of the stories above originated from U.S.A. According to Snopes.com, the earliest story documented can be traced way back 1964 from a freshman at the University of Kansas. Then in 1970's, another version circulated in Malaysia.

It is possible that the urban legend happened in real life. However, the original was distorted by tale-tellers to make it much horrifying and interesting to the hearers.

I have no idea when and how these stories circulated, and who started these. New Manila in Broadway Centrum is the common setting of the crime. Some sources suggested that this story rose in the midst of 1980s. If it is true, I suppose this urban legend is connected to Marcos's reign, especially in Martial Law period, perhaps they use this to scare lovers to go outdoor at night. Or if not, then someone just wanted to scare couples to go parking in deserted places alone.

AIDS patient injects Movie-goers & Shoppers with his blood

    Claim:

Movie-goers and mall shoppers were injected with syringes containing infected blood of AIDS/HIV.

    Legend:

There was a story about a guy carrying a syringe full of AIDS/HIV positive blood, roaming around and injecting moviegoers at SM Megamall. The story broke out sometime in the 1990s. There were those who claimed to have heard stories from people who knew one of the guy's victims.

A person will sit beside someone who is alone, then prick a needle on him/her, then leaves a morbid note like, "Welcome to my world!" or "Congratulations, you're one of us."

In the case of the shoppers (not moviegoers), they will simply stand or sit beside you, then they'll inject you with their infected syringe or needle. After that, they will just run away living the words, "Happy living".

    Variations:

    - In some stories, the guy was said to be wearing a baseball cap or a hooded jacket.
    - Some people also said that the guy would let out a maniacal laugh each time he injected a victim. The guy seemed to "melt into the shadows" since nobody reported seeing him running or headed anywhere.
    - Instead of a syringe, they said, he's using a needle.
    - Another version said, this guy injects HIV positive blood on Ketchup dispensers in fast-food chains.
    - Yet, there's another story from which this legend originated:
A woman (an employee of SM) who was infected by an HIV. After being fired by Mr. Henry Sy, she took revenge. She sit/stand beside SM shopper, then injects a needle from her body. Sometimes, she left some of the needles in the seats in SM cinemas for whoever will sit on it will also be infected.

Other story claims it was a disgruntled man, not a woman.

    Facts:

Anti-Megamall groups probably got together and decided to infect it with this story, which, by the way, isn't original. It turns out that this story has an international scope.

UFO Sightings in Novaliches, Quezon City and Cagayan De Oro

Would you believe that there has been a UFO sightings here in the Philippines?

    About

It has been a very big issue and mystery in the world if there are other beings in the whole universe aside of us - Earthlings. According to the specialists studying these issues, It is very impossible that we are alone, there are millions of galaxies, containing billions of stars, encircled with more than two planets each. So, could it be possible that they had visited Philippines also? Well, YES, though some are not true.

This story was featured in GMA Channel 7 Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. According to them, the pictures taken in Novaliches, Quezon City was fake. It was just photoshopped by the person who claimed he captured it on air. The UFO sightings in Cagayan De Oro are as well not been proven if either fake or reliable.

Actually, UFO sightings here in the Philippines didn't only appear in those two cities - Quezon City and Cagayan De Oro, but also in Las Pinas City. The sightings there were proven to be true now, that's why we don't add it here.

The first sighting had been caught a video was on the mountainside of Cagayan de Oro City, taken September 14, 2011. Base on the person who took the recording, It wasn't a plane nor an air traffic lights. A view of down the street was taken for perspective. No editing was done to the video.

The second one was filmed over Novaliches Quezon City, Philippines. Taken, September 20, 2011. According to the eye witness, Right when I speed out of my house I saw these redish, orange bright lights coming from the west heading east. At first i thought it was fireworks. but then it smoothly floating or whatever. There were five UFOs, at first all going the same direction, then three more appear.

    Story

    Unexplained Phenomena Examiner
    September 14, 2011

On Wednesday, September 14, 2011, an amazing UFO sighting took place in the Philippines. A boomerang-shaped red, orange, white, and yellow unidentified flying object was filmed on the mountainside of Cagayan de Oro City. Like other UFO sightings these recent days, this illuminated object was documented through video.

If you watch the video on the left side of this page, you will see one of the most interesting recent UFO sighting. The unidentified flying object appears to be rimmed in flashing lights. Although the lights seem to be arranged in a boomerang pattern, it is unclear whether the object itself is shaped that way. If you look closely, it seems there may be another row of lights on the dark side of the UFO shining away from the camera.
Here is the observer's description of the UFO sighting caught on camera from BPOrdersTutorial's Channel:
    - Gets pretty bizarre at the 3 and 7 minute marks.
    - Not a plane or air traffic lights
    - A view of down the street was taken for perspective.
    - No editing was done to the video.
    - This was filmed on the mountainside of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines on 9/14/2011.
    Any explanations?

The video lasts for an astonishing 10 minutes and 10 seconds. The bright pulsating lights on the UFO definitely don't indicate a desire to be discreet. The unidentified flying object is very clearly visible against the dark night sky and cannot be mistaken for a star, comet, helicopter, airplane, or any other object usually credited (or blamed) for UFO sightings.

    Alien Abductions in Mt. Banahaw

Look at the beautiful scenery of Mount Banahaw, depicting the farmland and the mountains consisting it.

    Claim:

Hikers went missing every time they go up in Mt. Banahaw, a sacred mountain in the Philippines. Aliens were actually the suspect of this disappearance, because, according to the residents, the mountain was a perfect landing site for UFOs (or Unidentified Flying Object).

    Legend:

    Collected from Internet:

There is a group of young campers who spend the night at one of those mountains. One of them felt uncomfortable to sleep in the tent because its hot and crowded, she decided to go outside and sleep on a sleeping bag were the air is much colder. After few minutes of sleep she heard this strange noise of a landing aircraft, when she opened her eyes, she saw a flying saucer landing in front of her, she felt blinded by the light and when she woke up she was on the top of the other mountain away from her friends. Her friends found her and asked her what happened. She said, she doesn't remember anything after seeing the light.

This sacred mountain located between Laguna and Quezon, is rumored to be a vortex for the supernatural, aside of being an airport of alien air crafts. Many claimed it to be a landing site for the extra-terrestrial beings, as witnessed by hundreds of people including a TV crew who filmed it.

Mount Banahaw has a twin mountain named, Mount Cristobal, and both of them are considered sacred mountains. However, the two mountains are comparable to yin and yang - Banahaw possessed the goodness and Cristobal possessed the opposite. Both Mountains were said to be infested by Engkantos (Fairies), but we're not going to talk about fairy stories.

    Truth:

Mount Banahaw is also the home to many religious sects, ranging from mystic Catholics, to Christian sects with far-fetched beliefs. One group believes Jose Rizal and Jesus are one and the same (they are called "Rizalista"); another sect thinks Christ’s second coming will be at its peak; and yet, another one has their cherished relic, a piece of paper with ink scribbles - supposedly written by Jesus Christ as a child - "Santo Nino".

The White Lady and Haunted Tree in Loakan Road

Did you know that there was another white lady aside in the Balete Drive?

    About

“Club” John Hay has closed its entrance in front of Nevada Square and is now accessible from only two entry points, one through Baguio Country Club and one via Loakan Road, the more popular gate. Taking the Loakan entrance from Military Cut-off Road, the motorist will notice that in front of Hotel Veneracion the road seems to be a lane wider, but only for about five meters and then shrinks back to its usual two-lane width. In truth, there once stood an allegedly enchanted acacia tree about two meters in diameter right smack in the middle of the road.

In the 1950’s when the plans were laid out to construct a road connecting Kennon Road’s Camp 7 to the city, the tree was right smack in the middle of the proposed route. The solution was simple: bulldoze the tree. It is said that all efforts to uproot the tree resulted in the death or serious illnesses of those involved. So big was the scare surrounding the circumstances workers befell in their previous attempts that the road was widened and built AROUND the mysterious obstacle. Needless to say, that poorly lit portion of Loakan Road yielded its own set of vehicular accidents often times claiming lives, even though the Baguio General Hospital was less than a kilometer away.

In the 1980’s, workers brave enough to put public service before their fear painted the base of the tree with yellow luminous paint to warn motorists. That small and seemingly harmless task led to severe illness for the poor men who are said to have relocated and no longer reside in Benguet Province. Sometime in 2001, the tree just “died” after occupying that spot for what appears to be hundreds of years. In 2002, the “Loakan Tree” was finally destroyed.

    Legend

    [Taken from Internet:]

There are many mysterious happenings surrounding Loakan. A tree in the middle of the road rumored to inexplicably cause death or illness to whosoever attempts to cut it down. A ghostly figure wanders the lonely road. Wails are heard from the ruins of two infrastructures leveled by the 1990 killer quake. But the most famous is the Lady in White.

Some say she’s the ghost of a nurse raped and murdered by her cabbie. Her body was supposedly dumped in the nearby woods. Now, her restless spirit is usually seen waving at the side of the street. Whether you stop to pick her up or not, she hitches a ride in the backseat and then vanishes when you either pass the second cemetery or reach the city. For this reason, cab drivers avoid this road after dark.

A load of bull? Yep. That’s what I thought, too. The eerily quiet, often fog-covered road had no street lights and had dense woods on either side. It’s enough to give any sane human the shivers, but not me. When we relocated to Pinesville, a subdivision at the end of Loakan Road, my skepticism thickly coated me from any feeling of dread. And after 3 months of living there and still no sight of the famous white lady I began theorizing that the story was promulgated by cab drivers to justify their taking the EPZA detour, hence making a higher fare payup.

But a strange thing happened in September 2001. It was raining. My Mom, Aunt and I were on our way home. We were having quite a hard time driving because the car’s wipers and the air-conditioning had given out. We had to roll our windows down to prevent steaming up the windshield. Still, it was so difficult trying to see through the rain and fog, not to mention the growing darkness. It was about 6:00pm. There were no other vehicles on the road that we could’ve followed. On top of that, my Aunt started yakking on and on about something or other. And Loakan is soooo loooooong.

Somewhere near the middle of Loakan Road, it dips and then rises again over a hill. The car is ancient so my Mom usually speeds up so she has enough ‘oomph’ to get her over the top. As we neared the part where the road descends, something in the distance caught the beam of the headlights. One of the painted white stripes on the road stood up and slowly formed into a human shape! I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. All I could see was a white human – definitely human figure standing in the middle of the road! It began to walk back and forth across the street! During this time, I noticed my Mom slowing to a crawl instead of accelerating. I knew she saw it, too and slowed down so she wouldn’t hit the moving apparition.

When our car was about 4 feet away from the white specter, it laid down and became a painted stripe again. All throughout the happening my Mom and I didn’t say a word. Hell, I didn’t even breathe! My heart was thumping so fast. My aunt, however, was oblivious. She was still talking. After a while I said, “What was that?” My Mom turned around, her eyes big as she said, “You saw it, too? An all-white woman with an umbrella?” I was surprised that she saw it clearly. She added other details like black hair that covered her face and an old-fashioned long gown.

Was it a ghost? Or just a weird image created by the fog and headlights? Whatever it was, it changed my view of ghosts and spirits. I now believe that even if you avoid them, it doesn’t mean that they would leave you alone.

    The Lady in White

Baguio taxi drivers tell the story about this woman, (some say it is a white lady), who would walk to the middle of the street to stop a passing vehicle in Outlook Drive near the area of the former Hyatt Terraces. Naturally, a driver would stop to avoid hitting her. She would then ask to be brought to Mines View Park, but would disappear before getting there.

Well, the story goes that there was this brave macho driver who refused to be pressured into believing the story. One night, he passed by the area and, soon enough, THERE WAS THIS WOMAN IN WHITE FLAGGING HIM TO STOP!

He swerved his cab and did his best to avoid running over the woman and drove on. All the while he kept saying to himself, “This is not true… it is just my imagination…” When he looked at his rearview mirror to find out what happened to the woman, he was shocked to see the woman already seated behind in the back and SHE WAS STARING ANGRILY AT HIM WITH BLOODSHOT EYES!

Again he told himself “This is not happening… this is not true...” and stepped hard on the accelerator. But his car wouldn’t accelerate. It just moved ever so slowly. He shifted gears but still his car maintained a slow pace. Momentarily, he focused his attention on the gearshift of his car, shifting again and again while revving up the motor. HE LOOKED BACK AT HIS REARVIEW MIRROR AND FOUND HER GONE!

He even turned around to look and truly, she was no longer there. But as he sighed in relief and faced the road once more, SHE WAS ON TOP OF THE HOOD OF HIS CAR WITH HER FACE PRESSED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD! This time, she had an evil smile on her face.

They say some other taxi driver found him early the next morning near the Baguio Country Club, still seated in his cab, his hair had all turned white, shaking and blabbering, “It is true… it is true…” They say he is now in the mental hospital.

    Biringan City

Have you heard of a city of wonder, which appear and vanish at the same time?

    About

This story was featured in the GMA Channel 7, Mel & Joey, hosted by Mel Tiangco and Joey de Leon. According to them, this city appears to be somewhat a kind of portal from and going to the other world.

    Anyway . . .

In the Province of Samar, the Philippines, the mention of “Biringan” evokes awe, fear, intrigue, knocking on wood and innumerable signs of the Cross.

What is Biringan? It is reportedly an undefined location somewhere between Calbayog City and Catarman, Northern Samar, where a mythic city(ies) of indescribable grandeur is/are said to exist, unvisited by ordinary mortals, known only by magnificent folk stories that refuse to die despite the advent of television and the internet. Other reports extend its area to as far south as San Jorge, Samar.

Biringan’s “now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t” quality indicates it is not of the usual land and water terrain in which we live in. It seems to exist in a different dimension, which explains why its boundaries can overlap with known towns and cities of Samar island. On moonless nights, seafarers aplenty have reported seeing a dazzling city of light. In a few minutes, though, the manifestation is no longer visible. Obviously, Biringan is not likely to be shown on any map or atlas. But specialized (infrared, ultraviolet, etc.) satellite mapping photography have reportedly turned up a shining area in the reported general location of Biringan.

They say Biringan is the legendary home of the encantos (enchanted ones) and half-encanto, half-human progeny. The encantos are most likely elementals, as old as the mountains and rivers in the area. They are apparently shapechangers because they have been reported to appear in whatever form they wish, human or not. But in human form, their distinguishing characteristic is the lack of the philtrum, the indentation below the nose and above the upper lip.

    Legends

    The Portal

Portals to and from an ethereal city. There are places in the island of Samar that have been described thus.

There’s one story of a bus plying the night route from Catbalogan City to Tacloban City. Somewhere halfway, when the bus had been emptied of its passengers, the driver and conductor stopped to pick up two young lady passengers. Their stated destination was quite off the main route but the driver consented because the two had offered triple the usual fare. When the two mysterious passengers had alighted, and the driver turned the bus around to get back on the highway. But, to his utter bewilderment, he could no longer distinguish the dirt road they had taken just moments ago. Conceding that they were lost, they decided to spend the night at that very spot. At dawn the next day, they were confounded when they found themselves and the bus at a desolate mountain top. A large tow truck had to be sent through rough mountain trails just to bring the bus back to civilization.

Then there’s the story of a bus that somehow lost its way and the driver stopped to pass the night at some sort of depot. When he and his passengers woke up the next morning they were in themiddle of a clump or bamboos with no roads anywhere around them that would have brought them where they were.

Perhaps the most classic example of these gateways involved two motorcycle riders riding tandem on one bike. They were traveling the highway at night from (Western) Samar to Eastern Samar. It was around nine o-clock in the evening and they were negotiating the foggy, winding passes halfway to Borongan, Eastern Samar. The night air was chilly and only their motorcycle headlights split the dark ahead. The deafening silence was only punctuated by the occasional chirping of insects.

Suddenly, as they rounded a sharp curve, they were suddenly engulfed in a bedlam of sound! It was as if they had entered a very busy freeway, invisible to them but its sound assaulted their ears. Shrill air horns blared from every direction and sudden gusts of wind rocked their motorcycle as if huge trailer trucks were passing them by on all sides. The driver tried his very best to keep the motorcycle handlebar steady.

It was only after they had round the next curve that the noise suddenly died down and the night air was deathly still once more. Still, these two motorcycle riders and scores of other highways travelers will never forget their encounters with Biringan’s portals.

    Supernatural Abductions

Supernatural abductions. Quite seemingly out of this world, but reportedly true. Some of the most persistent incidents related to the Biringan phenomenon involve the “relocation” of humans from the mortal world to Biringan.

What happens is, whenever a Biringan inhabitant takes fancy on a mortal (usually a fair maiden or attractive lad), he or she is taken away from the mortal world by was of bugkot (a Visayan vernacular term). The transition usually takes the form of sudden “death” (i.e., accidents, fatal illness lasting a few hours at most, sudden disappearance from any physical location). In reality, the mortal never really dies but his/her consciousness or spirit is taken by the Biringan entity.

The anguished kin of the victim are left with the “lifeless body” where in fact it is not the actual cadaver but a log or similar physical object configured to look and feel like a real lifeless human body. All the while, the victim now resides in Biringan as the wife, husband, or servant of the supernatural being which took her away.

I once knew of a very beautiful lady in Catbalogan City in the province of Samar in the Philippines who was separated from her husband and had three good-looking kids. One day, in the mid-Seventies, the car she was driving suddenly turned turtle on the highway near San Jorge, Samar causing her sudden untimely “demise”. The bereaved family held a decent wake for her and had her body properly buried. Until the present, however, there are persistent recurring reports of this lady being seen in the reported location of Biringan City and she is reportedly now queen of the encantos who live there.

No wonder a portion of the population of the city are half-encantos, half-human. It is these progeny who are reportedly fond of frequenting places where mortals abound for relaxation and entertainment (i.e. parks, beaches, nightspots). This is a direct result of all the cases of supernatural abductions

    Equipment for an Invisible City

Heavy equipment for an invisible city? Uncanny but true. In the Sixties, Tacloban City in the province of Leyte, the Philippines was the commercial hub of the Eastern Visayas region. It was the natural port of call of passenger and cargo ships plying the Visayas-Manila route. Who could ever imagine that manifestations of Biringan’s existence would take physical form?

One particular incident which is still word-of-mouth to this day involved the arrival of a large lot of first-class heavy equipment from the United States. The shipment consisted of bulldozers, graders, payloaders and hauler trucks. Post officials were astounded when they examined the freight documents and discovered the entire consignment listed the destination as Biringan City. Since the fabled city’s reputation had spread far and wide in the Eastern Visayas region, people were in a tumult of speculation as to who will claim the equipment.

Following prescribed port rules, the heavy equipment were unloaded and neatly parked in the concrete confines of the Tacloban port under heavy guard. Months passed and still no one came to claim the shipment. The elements were taking their toll on the equipment. Conflicting reports have it that the entire lot was either sent back to the shipper or hauled to the junkyard. Was this a matter of mistaken port of delivery of heavy equipment for an invisible city?

The Japanese Venture Into Biringan Territory

In the late Eighties through the Nineties, the Japanese ventured into Biringan territory. They conducted rural development work focused on the town of San Jorge, Western Samar. The implementing agency was the Japanese International cooperation Agency (JICA). The entire Samareño population was perplexed as to why the Japanese would concentrate on San Jorge when there were a lot more towns in the province which needed the development work more. To implement the project, the Japanese brought in tons of equipment (vehicles and machinery) and Japanese engineers and field personnel descended on San Jorge in full force.

One story involved a team of Japanese who went into the forest accompanied by a Filipino guide. Inexplicably, the guide lost track of the terrain. The Japanese promptly whipped out a very detailed satellite-generated map of the area and the team immediately found its bearings again. A related report had it that infrared, ultraviolet, or similar satellite pictures of the area kept registering a shimmering effect right on the location where the JICA was concentrated. This led to further reports that an enormous deposit of uranium is embedded deep in the bowels of the earth beneath that particular area. Others speculate that a mother lode of gold has been detected in the area. The thickest deposits are reportedly under the San Jorge area with the ends tapering as far a San Juanico Strait to the South and the San Bernardino Strait to the North.

Could there be a connection to the reported location of Biringan in the area? In Philippine folklore, elementals supposedly guard vast treasures hidden deep in the forests or deep underground.

Nevertheless, the Japanese left the area without any tangible results of their “rural development” work. That ended the Japanese Venture Into Biringan Territory.

    Conclusion

What really is Biringan? Is it a city or kingdom existing in a parallel dimension with ours? Do these two dimensions interpenetrate at times, causing the meeting of inhabitants from ours with encantos? Does this explain the ethereal now-you-see-it, now-you don’t quality of Biringan and its denizens?

To this day, Biringan remains a mysterious part of Philippine folklore (actually still an urban legend). In addition, everyday stories of encounters with Biringan’s residents continue to be told. If these had simply been figments of the imagination, these stories would have died down a long time ago, what with the advent of 100+ channels cable television and the Internet. Still, fresh stories continue to crop up.

Stories such as spirit possession by Biringan’s encantos over ten school children just because their school Principal unwittingly made a bonfire next to the large balete tree in their school yard. How was the poor teacher to know that the huge tree looming large near the old school building was the abode of a Biringanon? And that she had unknowingly injured the youngest child of the invisible occupants of the tree abode?

Even modern-day kids in the Philippines, well-versed on the Japanese animé sagas of the new century, still believe in the existence of the legendary kingdom of Biringan. This is an undeniable fact. Despite all the terror attacks, all the coup rumors, the hunger, the droughts, the floods, and everything, only one thing remains unshaken by it all … Biringan.

    Romblon Triangle

Romblon is an island province of the Philippines located in the MIMAROPA region. It lies in the Sibuyan Sea, south of Marinduque and Quezon, east of Mindoro, north of Panay Island (particularly of provinces of Aklan and Capiz) and west of Masbate.[1]

The island is nicknamed as the Marble Capital of the Philippines because of its abundance of marble in the island. It also has beautiful beaches and scenery. Romblon is subdivided into 17 municipalities.

Sibuyan Sea is a small sea lying in between Southern region of Luzon and Northern part of Visayas.

Unfortunely, the province became a dangerous hot spot for mariners. Some passenger ships and/or vessels met their final destination in the waters of Romblon - in Sibuyan Sea. The alleged dangerous hot spot is called Romblon Triangle named after the province.

    Bermuda and Romblon Triangles

Let's discuss first the western counterpart of the Romblon Triangle - the Bermuda Triangle, to better differentiate the two.

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an undefined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances.[2] Both marine vehicles and air vehicles met their accidents in the said place. Some of them sunk in the sea, but just them vanished for unknown reason. Other people believe that there is an extraterrestrial intervention in the said place. Though some accidents were explainable, however the other incidents have no known explication. Thus, people accepted the rumor about alien interruption as fact.

The Bermuda Triangle (its three vertices) lies in Miami, Florida peninsula; in San Juan, Puerto Rico; and in the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda. Large part of it lies in Bermuda Island, where the name of the triangle came.

The region is one of the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world with ships crossing there daily for ports in the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. The Sibuyan Sea is one of the busy region for traveling ships but only in the Philippines.

The Romblon Triangle is a region in the central seas of the Philippines which lies near the province of Romblon, where a number of surface vessels are alleged to be a theater of disaster under unexplainable circumstances. Philippine Coast Guard believes that such disasters are due to natural phenomenon like high tides, heavy typhoons among others; outcome of its navigational potentials and topographic features.[3] The Romblon Triangle covers the whole province of Romblon, and its endpoint lies in Concepcion municipality, in-between of the Dos Hermanas islands (Isabel and Carlota islands) and Sibuyan Island.

    Legend of Lolo Amang

There was this famous legend about a ghost ship roaming in the Sibuyan Sea. They said the ghost ship is owned by a person named Lolo Amang. The ship was made up of gold, sailing every night in the waters of the region. Despite the darkness of the night, the ship shimmers beautifully that even miles away mariners see them. Witnesses saw a kind of party aboard the ship with white people on it, as if it was a Pacific Cruise.

Before the M/V Don Juan collided with M/V Tacloban, some passengers saw Lolo Amang's ship. It was said that the captain of the former passenger ship avoided the golden ghost ship which resulted it to crash with the latter one.

The island where Mt. Cayatong stands was said to be the place where Lolo Amang dwell. Shamans there warn people not to got there unless if they give a sacrifice and Lolo Amang accepted it. The Horror TV Show of GMA News TV Channel 11 entitled Misteryo tried to record a video of Lolo Amang's Golden ship. They set their camp in the beach near Mt. Cayatong. In the end, their camera didn't caught any glimpse of the ship.

The golden ship of Lolo Amang reminded me about the Biringan City in Samar. Samar is also part of Visayan Region like Romblon and Sibuyan Sea. The Biringan City harbors white people, and those white people I'm talking about are the engkantos. Take a look of your Philippine Map, Sibuyan Sea is almost near the Samar Island.

    Historical Events and Accidents

    The Battle of Sibuyan Sea
The World War II started by Japanese bombing the Pearl Harbor of US. And because the Philippines is an allied force of US, we are not exempted in the world war.
On October 24, 1944, around 8:00am, the Japanese Center Force of Admiral Kurita was spotted entering in the Sibuyan sea. At that time, there's only three groups available to strike the Center Force, and the ones in best position is Gerald F. Bogan's Task Group (which was the weakest of the groups, containing only one large carrier - the USS Intrepid, and two much smaller carriers). At about 10:30am, planes from Intrepid and Cabot started to attack the Nagato, Yamato and Musashi, and they severely destroyed the Myoko. Then another wave of attack from Intrepid, Essex, and Lexington hit the Musashi. As the ship withdrew, another wave came again from Enterprise and Franklin with 11 additional bombs and eight torpedoes. In the end, the Japanese battleship Musashi sunk in the Sea on 7:30pm. The Battle of Sibuyan Sea didn't just end on it, the Japanese force fought back as well.
[The Japanese Center Force consisted of five battleships (Yamato, Musashi, Nagato, Kongo, and Haruna), ten heavy cruisers (Atago, Maya, Takao, Chokai, Myoko, Haguro, Kumano, Suzuya, Tone and Chikuma), two light cruisers (Noshiro and Yahagi) and 15 destroyers.[4]]

    The Adeter Tragedy (1950s)
In the 1950s, the Maghali group of islands in Romblon (Banton, Concepcion and Simara) were made accessible to the provincial capitol and to Luzon thru the construction of wooden launches which ply the routes Lucena City-Romblon and Manila-Romblon. One of the companies that became the forefront in wooden vessel shipping was the Asuncion Shipping (now known as San Nicholas Shipping) which was based on the island of Banton. It had a fleet of 7 to 10 ships divided into three classes: the Asuncion class, the Catalyn class and the Adeter class. During the 1950, one of the ships in the Adeter class, the Adeter V was caught in a storm as it travelled between Banton and Simara and sank.[5]

    The M/S Don Juan Tragedy
Around 1 pm of April 22, 1980, a jam-packed M/S Don Juan of Negros Navigation (NN) carrying at least 1,000 passengers, left Pier 2 at the Manila North Harbor. It was bound for Bacolod City.[6] It was famous for being one of the fastest passenger ship travelling only 18 to 19 hours from Manila to Bacolod, which for some other ships, they take 1 whole day to travel the same.
At 10:30pm, an oil tanker M/T Tacloban crashed on Don Juan which resulted to a large hole in the lower deck. Not too long, the ship sunk.

The M/V Doña Paz and M/T Vector Tragedy
On December 20, 1987, M/V Doña Paz (owner: Sulpicio Lines) collided with M/T Vector (owner: Vector Shipping) in Tablas Strait near Marinduque. It has an estimated death toll of more than 4,000 people making it the deadliest peacetime maritime disaster in 20th century. It even got the name Asia's Titanic.
The M/V Doña Paz came from Tacloban, heading to Manila, while M/T Vector came from Bataan going to Masbate. It was said that M/V Doña Paz had no radio that time.
The M/T Vector caught fire after the collision and it sunk in the same place. The ship is an oil tanker carrying 8,800 US barrels of gasoline and other petroleum products.

The M/V Princess of the Stars Tragedy
The M/V Princess of the Stars is a Filipino ferry owned by Sulpicio Lines. It capsized in the coastline of San Fernardo, Romblon on June 21, 2008. It travels in the midst of Typhoon Frank (international name Typhoon FengShen). The ship travels from Manila heading to Cebu. It was permitted to sail because they thought, the ship was too large to stay afloat even there's a typhoon. Unexpectedly, the typhoon changed its course putting the ship in danger.

    Conclusion

Philippine Coast Guard believes that such disasters are due to natural phenomena like high tides, heavy typhoons among others; outcome of its navigational potentials and topographic features. It can also be a Human Error or Pilot disorientation, just like the theory about what's actually happening in Bermuda Triangle.

For me, the Romblon Triangle is NOT true. It is just a work of imagination. I would prefer not to have a local Bermuda Triangle in my country. No one should be proud of having such a dangerous place in the world. People should find a way to explain it that it is NOT true rather than explaining it in a way like . . . scary.
